📆 Schedule Carefully for School Success! 📆 Try to plan medical appointments and extended trips whenever school isn’t in session. This helps minimize disruptions to your child’s education and ensures they don’t miss out on important learning in class. Check the school calendar when setting dates for appointments and vacations. By being considerate of the school schedule, we can prioritize our children’s education and help them stay on track with their learning.

On September 16th, educational leaders from across the Upper Peninsula gathered in Marquette for the UPLifting Families Network Kick-Off Retreat. This event marked the start of the UPLifting Families Network, part of a new statewide program focused on building a network supporting educators, providing educational programs, and linking families to community resources. Strengthening family engagement in meaningful ways around education is a key factor that research shows is one of the strongest predictors of a child's success in school and beyond. The program aims to actively involve parents and families in their children's’ educational journeys from preschool through age 20.

We’re excited to share that Maysen Bergerson, a senior at L'Anse Area Schools and part of our Copper Country ISD CTE Welding and Manufacturing program, earned outstanding recognition at the prestigious MITES State Competition in Gaylord, Michigan! Maysen's "Tractor, Trailer, and Excavator Model" entry brought home the blue ribbon in his category and the Wrought Metal A Divisional Award, making his project the best CTE entry across all 13 categories. It also earned the 2024 asbe Foundation Creative Design Award for the most creative project at the MITES Convention. 🌟 When asked how he felt about his achievement, Maysen summed it up in one word: "Unreal." The project used materials mostly salvaged from the scrap bin.

We're thrilled to share our new composting project is finally underway, thanks to a generous Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative grant! Our very first composting bin has been proudly set up along the wooded edge of the CCISD offices in Hancock. Two more are coming soon. Composting is fantastic because it converts kitchen and garden waste into rich, nutritious soil, helping plants grow healthier and stronger. It also reduces the amount of garbage sent to landfills, significantly lowering methane emissions and our overall environmental footprint. We've distributed composting buckets, informative books, and educational posters to the Community Transition Program, Middle School and High School MiCI programs, and the Learning Center classrooms across our CCISD locations. ♻️ Do you have a composting system or any composting tips? We would love to see your photos! #Composting #Sustainability #Stewardship #CommunityProject
