Special Education Student

HANCOCK – Today, the Copper Country Intermediate School District is proud to announce the launch of the "Limitless Potential" campaign, part of a statewide initiative designed to celebrate special education and promote a deeper understanding of its impact on students, families, and communities.

The campaign, a collaborative effort by the ISD PR Network, the Michigan Schools PR Association, the Michigan Association of Intermediate School Administrators, the Michigan Association of Administrators of Special Education, and the Michigan Special Education Instructional Leadership Network, aims to transform how special education is perceived and valued throughout the state.

The "Limitless Potential" campaign will feature a comprehensive mix of social media content, videos, feature stories, and more to engage both the public and schools. The goal is to highlight the success stories of students with diverse abilities, celebrate the educators and support staff who empower them, and create a more inclusive culture where every student's potential is recognized and nurtured.

At the core of the campaign are several key themes:

  • Every child deserves the chance to learn at their best, and schools play a vital role in nurturing children and young adults from birth to age 26.

  • Special education supports each student’s unique strengths and needs, helping them to learn, grow, and achieve alongside their peers.

  • This campaign celebrates the journeys and successes of more than 217,000 special education students across Michigan, highlighting their growth and potential beyond traditional programs and thinking.

  • All students have diverse abilities and are general education students first with special education to support learning opportunities.

"Special education is an essential part of our commitment to ensuring every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential," said Jim Rautiola, CCISD Superintendent. "By sharing the stories of our students and educators, we hope to build greater understanding and appreciation for the unique contributions they make to our schools and communities."

The campaign recognizes that educators and support staff aare the heart of our schools, and it aims to celebrate their dedication and hard work in creating inclusive, empowering environments for all students. It also emphasizes the importance of community involvement, recognizing the vital roles parents, community members, and policymakers play in fostering a culture of inclusion and respect.

The "Limitless Potential" campaign will roll out over the coming months with a series of social media initiatives, video features, and community engagement activities designed to raise awareness and change perceptions. Schools across Michigan are encouraged to participate by sharing campaign materials and stories within their communities.

"We believe that every student has limitless potential, and our schools are places where that potential can truly be realized," added Rautiola. "This campaign is about recognizing and celebrating that potential, and ensuring that every student feels valued and supported."
