Connor Kamm for the 2024 Work Ethic Scholarship

Congratulations to Connor Kamm, a 2024 Houghton High School graduate and incoming Northern Michigan University student, for earning the Mike Rowe Work Ethic Scholarship!

Connor, who will be studying Welding Technology and HVACR at NMU this fall, has been awarded this scholarship by the Mike Rowe Works Foundation. You probably know Mike Rowe from his former Discovery Channel series, "Dirty Jobs," which highlights the essential roles of blue-collar workers.

Connor's dedication to the skilled trades began early, with a strong passion that led him to take welding courses at Houghton High School and the Copper Country ISD. As part of receiving this scholarship, Connor has reaffirmed his commitment to the SWEAT Pledge, a set of 12 principles emphasizing work ethic, personal responsibility, delayed gratification, and a positive attitude.

Out of thousands of applicants, Connor is one of the 200 recipients of the 2024 scholarship, sharing a portion of the $1,000,000 fund.
