Vehicle Donation from Copper Country Ford to the CTE Vehicle Program

Houghton, MI – The Copper Country Intermediate School District is thrilled to announce a generous donation from the Ford Motor Company and Copper Country Ford to its Career and Technical Education (CTE) Automotive Technology Program. The donation, a 2012 Ford Focus, represents the continued commitment to supporting automotive education and the development of the next generation of automotive technicians.

The vehicle will serve as a practical learning tool for students, enabling them to gain hands-on experience with standard automotive technologies. This contribution aligns with the program's goal of providing high-quality, realistic training experiences that prepare students for careers in the automotive industry.

David Narhi, CTE Automotive Technology Instructor, highlighted the importance of the partnership and its impact on the program. "Our collaboration with Ford Motor Company and Copper Country Ford through the Automotive Career Exploration (ACE) program has been important in offering our students learning opportunities.

“They can complete a significant portion of the training required to become technicians while still in high school. This year alone, 55 students have completed over 420 courses. Two years ago, they provided us with a beginning technician tool set. This vehicle donation will further enhance our ability to provide the most current training possible."

The addition of the 2012 Ford Focus to the program's resources is particularly significant as it allows students to work with more modern vehicles, allowing them to practice on current technologies in automotive repair and maintenance.

Matt Moyryla, a student in the work-based learning program, is taking full advantage of these opportunities. Each Friday, Matt works alongside technicians at Copper Country Ford to get on-site career experience. "The experience that I get through the work-based learning program has been incredible," Moyryla said. "It's an opportunity to learn from the experts, ask questions, and be prepared to start my career.”

The Copper Country Intermediate School District and its CTE Automotive Technology Program extend their heartfelt thanks to the Ford Motor Company for this generous donation and demonstrating the commitment to education and the future of the automotive industry. The program also wishes to thank its students for their dedication and hard work, as well as the advisory board members and local shops for their ongoing support.

Through continued partnerships and support, the Copper Country Intermediate School District remains dedicated to preparing students for successful careers in automotive technology and other vital industries.
